All roads lead to the palace

Karlsruhe palace was built in 1715-1718 by the Margrave of Baden-Durlach in the style of the Palais de Versailles. After suffering much damage during the war the interior was modified to meet the needs of a modern museum. The Baden State Museum is home to a fine collection of antiquities and prehistoric artifacts which display thousands of years of human history. Maybe you can find a B&B from Bed and Breakfast Karlsruhe on one of the 32 main avenues leading off the palace grounds.

    Central point

One of the symbols of Karlsruhe has to be the mini pyramid found in the central square. Just like its Egyptian predecessors it was built as a tomb to house the body of the town's founder, Margrave Karl-Wilhelm. The market square is also home to the pillared town hall, the municipal protestant church and a stunning octagonal fountain. Definitely worth a visit during your stay at a cosy B&B from Bed and Breakfast Karlsruhe.

    Blooming Art

Visit the botanical gardens which consist of spectacular English style lawns, borders and greenhouses housing many exotic and rare varieties of trees, plants and flowers. The residents of Karlsruhe are very proud of the flower collection which promises constant blooms from spring through to autumn. For art visit the ZKM centre for Arts and Media. Based in a reconfigured munitions factory it serves as an amazing exhibition space for contemporary art installations and shows.
